To welcome sleep.

As I prepare my physical and conscious environment for the night, there are favorite albums that help guide me to the state of sleep.
Last year I started gathering ideas for making my own, and here it is, quiet and uneventful.

My history with contemplative music started with the radio show "Music from the Hearts of Space.” It was the first genre that I discovered on my own. My father loved many styles of music and Sunday afternoons were often listening sessions. However, this was a new type of music for me and as a young adult I loved listening to it late at night in the dark.

In college, I started playing what was called "Space Music”. When I finished practicing scales and going through charts, I'd settle in the practice room and play drone-y music for a long time. The class that was the most accepting and conducive to the type of improvisation and composition that I liked was Electronic Music, where I'd get to spend hours with the ARP 2600 and learned how to splice tape.
